FRIENDS. I didn’t really eat Dog but it got you reading right? I’ve heard great things about it BUT here’s what I really did eat.
Side Note: I cried the other day when my friend gifted me with a hotdog.. best hotdog I’ve had all year and now I can say “best hotdog since Nam“
ANYWAYS..
A typical breakfast lunch or dinner consisted of noodles/Ramen or Phu.. Which let me tell you if you’ve had it in the states it doesnt compare to how good it is here. Throw some chicken bean sprouts and quail eggs in there.. its a feast!
One day we went with one of our students to lunch, he showed us his favorite vegetarian spot. I was skeptical at first thinking I wouldn’t be really full after the meal but this place actually made me think (dare I say it) I could survive being vegetarian..
Fried Tofu and a Vietnamese Pancake (which is far from regular pancakes)
Vietnamese Mushroom Soup (My dad would be proud, I loved it!)
Fried Rice with Veggies
Spring roll (not fried.. obviously)
This was the “fried beans an cheese” not my fav but it was worth a try!
This is called Nem.. you pretty much make your own spring rolls. Its my new fav thing. There’s cucumber, pork, fire rice paper, lettuce, basil, and mango all wrapped up in rice paper!
(A gift from Him above)
For dessert you always have fresh fruit! WHAT A DREAM.
