This past week momma Neigh came to Africa and lived the life of a racer.
It was awesome to welcome her into the life I’ve lived and loved all year. We can all say the race hasn’t been perfect but we wouldn’t trade any moment for anything. It was cool that all the parents had such fresh perspective. This is the first time for a lot of them seeing poverty like this, the first time their heart breaks for kids like this. For us we have seen it a million times or we have seen worse, we become numb to the feeling. We stop really feeling what breaks the Fathers heart in the world.
The Lord has done so much in our hearts over the past 9 months. He has shown us the darkest of places, the poorest of places, the places that break his heart. But he has also shown us where he is in those places. He’s in the hope in their eyes. He’s in the smile of the child who might not get love at home. He’s in the strength of a hug from a little. He will always provide, always pursue and always love no matter the circumstances.
Being able to see a glimpse of what God sees in his children has been such a blessing. And being able to share that with my mom has been really cool. I loved seeing her eyes light up when we saw the kids. The kindness and gentleness in her heart for them reminded me of him. We got to play with kids and care points and help feed them. One day we even got to bring them a bouncy house (my fav day) , we delivered food to care points and got to pray over families. I really cool week for my mom to experience with me.
My mom should be arriving home in Oregon sometime today I think. I’ll see her again in a few months!!
