The other night my team did a listening prayer for each other, the vision my teammate got for me was a broken heart with cement being poured into it.
It was a picture I was a little confused by because I haven’t had broken-hearted since my last relationship years ago, so I asked the Lord what he meant by that.
Here’s what he told/showed me.
The world has a problem defining the words LUST and LOVE.
There’s a difference between LUST and LOVE.
LUST is the opposite of love, it’s a demand for self, it’s very selfish, defined as a “desire gone mad” … something that was so present in my last relationship.
LOVE chooses the better for the other person.
LUST people are for self:
How can I make more money?
How can I get famous?
LOVE people are for others:
How can I bless?
How can I serve?
How can I help?
How can I ADD VALUE?
This LOVE is the love GOD has for you and for me! The love God shared when he put his only son Jesus on the cross is a love that I don’t think I will ever comprehend.. but this is what I do know.
God looks at us humans as his TREASURE, his PRIZED POSSESSION.
Let’s talk about the BC days, God couldn’t let us keep living life knowing that we were going to hell for eternity. You know the burning and the fire and the pain, why would he want that for his children??
God wants us to spend eternity with HIM.
He wanted us to be able to step into living in LIGHT and not darkness.
All you parents out there let me give you a new perspective.. Your children, the ones you would do anything for and you always love them no matter what they do. Say half of your kids had to go to hell, who would you pick? How would you pick? … if you had an option to go yourself instead of them would you do it?
I think most parents would pick that last option, and that’s the beauty of who Jesus is. He was the ultimate sacrifice to reconnect our relationship with our Heavenly Father.
God gave us Jesus so he could pay the ultimate price by putting the weight of the worlds darkness on the cross.
In that moment, the gap was bridged, we can now walk in LOVE and LIGHT.
We now know a new definition of love, a love with God where you seek goodness in life, where there’s nothing to hide because you live in LIGHT.
“Be Kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Follow Gods example, therefore, as dearly LOVED children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” -Ephesians 4:32, 5:1-2 NIV
Love is selfless.
Love is a sacrifice at times.
Love is seeing the best in people even when they’re at their worst.
Love is being there no matter what.
Love is an endless pursuit.
Love is life.
God is love.
