I listened to a podcast the other day and it talked about beauty and it brought up some points that I want to share with the world.

(If you want to listen to it and shed some tears like I did.. it’s called The Beautiful One: Hidden Beauty by Erwin McManus.. S/O to my friend Will for the recommendation)

ANYWAYS HERE IT GOES:

I’ve seen beautiful things in the last four months. I’ve seen the love and light and hope of Jesus overflowing from a person who is named “untouchable” in society. I’ve seen the mountains of Nepal. I’ve seen the beautiful beaches of Vietnam and experienced the kind and servant hearted people that live there.

But I’ve learned that the more elegant beauty is the beauty of what holds the universe together, its hidden beauty. I feel like all around the world there’s different definitions of beauty. Western beauty is perceived as having tan and clear skin, perfect and white teeth, and putting as much makeup on as you can to cover all the “flaws” … Beauty in Vietnam its a lot different. Instead of tanning beds people bleach their skin to keep it white. So many of us (myself included) look to outward appearance to find worth and beauty but the Lord always points to the inside, to find worth and beauty in Him.

When Jesus came to earth the Bible describes him as “like a root out of dry ground” … in him we saw nothing beautiful, nothing majestic, nothing that would really attract us to him.

When the messiah came to earth I think a lot of people thought God would make him so powerful and BIG so that we can be big. But God wants us to reflect his character. He was a servant, he was humble. He looked like an average, ordinary guy. He sacrificed his beauty but beauty was the sacrifice because he wanted us to rediscover beauty in him.

Perspective: to create art you have to have perspective, the point from which you see things will completely determine the art you create. If art demands truth then beauty demands hope. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t remain hopeless once you’ve seen beauty.

Life with Jesus is full of beauty, awe and simplicity. Jesus is just a normal guy.

When Jesus looks at you he sees a beauty that no one else has ever seen.

I used to think and believe, the lies people have told me:
“How could he want me. I’m not pretty enough, not skinny enough, not smart enough, I’m a college dropout out, I’m over-emotional, Boys never pursue me because I’m intimidating, I use people, how could he love me when I don’t deserve his love, I have made mistakes and said and done things that I regret.”

but now I know the beautiful one (Jesus) will give me the beautiful life I was created to live.

I’m an object of His love.
