A few days ago we had a travel day across continents and we went 5 hours forward in time zones. So everyone in America I’m 6 hours ahead of all my east coast fam and 9 hours ahead of my west coast fam.. anyways here’s a play by play of my very long travel day:
-started in Bangkok, Thailand YWAM Base
-slept 2 hours
-Packed and ready to leave at 345am, said goodbye to our squad leaders
-Jumped into the back of a truck for a 45 min ride to the airport
-Waited 1.5 hours because they couldn’t start checking people for Air India in until 6am
-Bag weighed 20kg (2kgs under weight HOLLA)
-Went through security
-Went through customs
-Made it to the gate 10 min before boarding
-Got our carry on bags searched
-Boarded the flight
-Got to New Delhi in 4 hours (slept the whole time)
–looked out the window as we landed and the sky went from fluffy white clouds to a grey smog.. yay pollution!
-went through security
-went through customs
-went through security
-Had a dinner Curry date with Caitlin
-Tried informing our banks we would be in Europe for the next 3 months … I had no luck because my bank was closed (thanks mom for helping me)
-boarded our 9 hour flight to ROME
-sat between a little Indian dude and a squad mate, they both used my shoulders quite a few times as a pillow
-had a glass of wine and a glass of water (the only beverage I got the whole flight)
-I felt like the scene in brides maids when all my friends are in the “cool” rows and I’m stuck with the sleepers
-watched the movies Lion, Fantastic Beasts, and Mask
-Got ready on the plane to hit the streets of Rome
-slept maybe a half hour
-Got to ROME at 730pm
-went through security
-went through customs
-gathered as a squad to be reminded of what time to be back to the airport and not to be dumb
-Gathered my gang of 8 into a van
-taxied for an hour into the city
-had dinner outside at this wonderful spot on the square, our night was filled with good wine and pasta

-went to the Pantheon and The Trevi Fountain
-got a taxi back to the airport around 130am
-slept the whole cab ride back (all of us were out)
-got to the airport so tired.. shuffled to the bathroom (thought I could just curl up in the sink for a little bit)
-slept on the floor for 2 hours then realized how COLD it was. (When you go from SE Asia where it’s 100 degrees with 100% humidity all the time, 60 degree weather with no humidity is beautiful but cold)

-checked in to our next flight at 630am
-went through security
-went through customs
-had a few hours to kill before our flight to Albania
-got food and wandered around staring at all the beautiful men (haven’t seen such beautiful creatures in 5 months it was incredible)
-boarded our flight
-got to Albania in an hour, slept the whole flight
-went through customs
-got our bags
-waited for a few hours
-got picked up by a friend of a friend of our host who spoke no English
-drive for an hour and learned how to play the game Contact
-Got to our home for the month, we are staying with a widow and her daughter who translates, Flora (the mom) said she is going to be our mom for the month, she’s the sweetest little thing with her little heeled house shoes.
-had a traditional Albanian Lunch (at 3pm)
–bean soup, rice, fresh goat cheese, BREAD, cucumber and tomato salad and LEMON WATER. We were all in heaven. I nearly wept at the sight of bread and cheese.
-finally showered and changed our clothes
-got in bed to relax and watch Eat Pray Love.. only made it 20 min and fell asleep sometime after 6pm
-slept for 14 hours
