Team Logos and Team Increase have been in Pattaya working
with the Tamar Centre for the past week. We’ll be here until Christmas Eve
and then we’ll head back to Bangkok for three days with the whole squad. After
Christmas, we’ll be working with a different ministry. I’m not sure what we’ll
be doing yet.

Tamar Centre reaches out to the women and girls that work in
prostitution here. Basically, they go into the bars and to the beaches and
invite the women to the free English classes that they offer. We’ve been joining in on their ministry,
going to the bars with them and then helping out with the English classes. For
the girls that come to the Tamar Centre and want to get out of the bars, they
offer training programs that will allow the girls to learn a new profession.
Many of the women become Christians and the Tamar Centre also offers
discipleship to these women.

It has been awesome to work with the Tamar Centre. I think
they really “get it” and I have a lot of faith in what they are doing. They
don’t try to shove Christianity in their faces but instead they
offer a practical glimpse of the love that God has for these women. When we go into the bars, we don’t try to
preach to them but we sit and listen to their stories, we tell them about
English class and we pray that they will come. For the women that do come to
English class, we learn the names of kitchen utensils and ask them questions
about themselves and laugh with them and offer to pray for them.

Tamar expresses God’s love in a practical way to these
women. It’s been a blessing to work with them this month and see the way that
God uses them. They meet the women where
they’re at. The centre is in the middle of one of the worst streets in Pattaya.
They look past the ugliness and see the women as God sees them. They surround what
they do with prayer and worship. Through something as simple as a free English
class, girls and women that used to spend their lives in prostitution are
coming to know Jesus…

Yep, I’m having a wonderful Christmas.
