We’ve been in Siem Reap, Cambodia for the past two weeks working with David and Lara Narita, two doctors from the States. They run a student center here as well as volunteering in a hospital. We’ll be here another two weeks and then we head back to Thailand for our second debrief. After that, we’ll have our first ATL month in Asia! I’ll post an update on where we’re headed as soon as I know.
The first week was mostly a week of getting a feel for the ministries here and finding our place. God has been showing up a ton in leading us to our ministries for this month. We’re all heading in different directions it seems. Some of us are teaching English at a community centre, some are teaching English to monks and others are teaching English in a school/orphanage here. We’ve also been going to a small village called Prasat Batchum outside of town three afternoons per week. We’ve been teaching the kids some English, doing Bible story lessons, singing songs and playing games. The kids in this village have stolen my heart. They are awesome! We’ve been doing a few service projects there as well and one of the women who run the village program does a small clinic there and some of us have helped with that. Also, Amy and Courtney have been teaching a cooking and karate class at the student center. We may do some other things with the student centre in the next two weeks (like a ping pong tournament!).
