brought to you by my procrastination from schoolwork:
I am living at home in Truro this
summer for the first time since I was in high school. It’s been a
little weird to adjust to but it’s also been nice. I am taking three
courses by distance and working at the movie theater as well. It
keeps me pretty busy but I am actually finding my courses pretty
interesting which helps.
On July 28th I will be
heading to Georgia. The first few days I will be meeting up with some
fellow racers in Athens to spend some time together, and then we will
be heading down to (or up to?) Gainesville on July 31st
with the whole squad for our training camp! I am really excited to
finally meet the rest of the squad! We will also be put into our
smaller teams of about 5-6 at camp. It sounds like training camp is a
pretty intense experience but it should be awesome too!
As most of you know, I need to raise
$13,800US in order to do this trip. It sounds like a lot, but the
other day I realized that the average university student spends much
more than that in eight months. Well, I am assuming they do because I
spend a little less than that at Memorial…haha, sorry other
students. This amount covers my travel expenses (except to training
camp and the launch location), food, lodging and ministry expenses,
among other things. Being financially supported enables me, first to
actually go, and also to focus on ministry and serving those around
me. So, I see it as a partnership. Some people aren’t called to go,
but are called to be a part of the ministry by financially and/or
prayerfully supporting it. It works out quite nicely because I am
called to go but I am just a poor little student haha.
Anyway, so right now I am currently
about 20% supported. This means that right now I have $3120 Canadian
and I still need about $12900 Canadian. If you’d like to support me
and this ministry, you can click on the link on the left that says
Support Me. Thank you so much to those that have already supported
me, it really does mean a lot and I am so excited to see what your
support is going to accomplish!
One last thing, if anyone is interested
in committing to pray for me and my squad on a regular basis (doesn’t
necessarily have to be daily) please contact me and I will add you to
a prayer email that I plan to send out (it hasn’t happened yet, but
I hope to get one out soon).
So! That’s my update. Check back in
August for training camp blogs! (Perhaps there will be a surprise blog
before then but I will definitely be updating this after training
camp).
Thanks for reading!
Oh, one last thing – if there is
something about my trip that you are wondering about or if you have a
question that I haven’t answered, email me or leave a comment here or
talk to me in person and I will be happy to fill you in. I never know
what information to share, but if you ask me a question I probably
know the answer, or I can find out.
