I just wanted to share that our team received an e-mail this morning from one of the women we worked with at the Sra Sarong to let us know to be praying for the kids there. There is a fever outbreak in the village right now and the team is feeling very helpless and overwhelmed. They don’t have enough medicine for every child that is sick and so they are having to pick out the sickest children to give the medicine to. It’s a hard spot for them to be in. Please pray for the kids, for health to be restored. It’s heart wrenching for the team – they were saying how hard it is to see how sick they are, and still they are showing up for English/Bible class because of how strongly they desire to learn. The team is trusting God in it, but they also really love these kids and have heavy hearts right now. I’m praying that God will open doors through it and redeem it – that the team would be able to share more about Jesus through it. Pray particularly for Srey-On and Pro-On (an adorable brother and sister that are really smart, sweet kids), they were the ones that Nancy named as needing the most prayer. Thank you!

Also, a family that I just loved in Nicaragua, the Vegas, recently lost their house to a fire. The poverty in Candelaria is such that they really and truly lost everything in that fire. This family is awesome. They are members of the church we worked with and really are just a sweet family.  They washed laundry (by hand!) for our team of 13 just to bless us. The kids play regularly at New Song where we worked and we absolutely fell in love with those kids. Here’s what Brittany, one of the missionaries we worked with at New Song, had to say about it:

“Yesterday started out the same as any other Sunday, and our group was about to start a morning Worship when one of the youth kids Ariel Vega came to tell me his Aunts house had caught on Fire. Jessica Vega’s house was completely charred by the time we arrived. There has been absolutely no power and no water in the village for almost 2 weeks, so everyone that lived close to the Vegas was bringing what little water they had stashed at their houses over to them as fast as they could to try to stop the fire. The littlest child Alan who is 9 months was in the house when it was on fire and Marvin Vega got him out just in time! God was watching over their safety for sure, as no one was harmed. We helped them take apart their house and get what was left out of it. For a family who already has nothing….it is a tragedy to lose what little they do have. Their house was about an 18 by 25 foot space. Jessica Vega lived in the house with her 4 kids.  Jevin – 9 years old, Mary-Lacey – 7 years old, David – 5 years old and Tito – 4 years old. The family was weeping as we began to take off the burnt wood and ruined tin. We prayed with them for a while and explained that God has a purpose for everything, and perhaps this was a blessing in disguise. If we can raise enough money we can build them a better home out of cement blocks. Their house was falling apart as it was and an accident waiting to happen, so perhaps this is God’s master plan to help out this wonderful family. The Vega family are members of our church and faithfully clean the goat house everyday.”

It would cost approximately $1500 to build them a house of cement blocks. From my heart, I can tell you that they are a family that is worth investing in and blessing. If you would like to contribute in any way (every bit helps, cliché but so so true) please, please let me know and I will get the information on how to donate to you. I so wish there was more that I could do for them, but I also know that I know a lot of people who have big hearts, so please take a minute to pray about it. Thank you!

MUCH LOVE TO YOU ALL!
