Dear Friends and Family,
I’d like to start by thanking you. In one way or another, you have made an impact on my life over the past eighteen years. I was not born with the ability to interact with people so comfortably. I did not wake up one morning and find myself full of passion and a desire to learn as well as teach. I certainly wouldn’t understand the difference between right and wrong or how much God loves me without you! God placed you in my life to build and shape who I am today and I have never been more grateful.
As senior year is swiftly coming to an end, it is time to start the next chapter in my life. Over the past few months, I have been looking through college applications and praying for direction in the next steps I take. And now, for many graduating seniors, it is time to find a roommate and make the transition into college; however, God is taking me down a completely different path! Instead, I am trying to find a sturdy backpack and make the transition out into the world.
At the beginning of the year, I was officially accepted onto the the World Race: Gap Year, a nine month mission trip through the organization Adventures in Missions. In place of what would have been my freshman year of college, I will be going to three countries for three months apiece to spread God’s love. Of the many places I could be going to, I am blessed to be spending time in Thailand, South Africa, and Nicaragua. While my squad and I are in these places, we will have the chance to create relationships with people in the community and to witness and actively participate in what God is doing in their lives as well as our own. The challenges that many of these people around the world are facing range from living in poverty to being sold for pleasure. One thing that is abundantly clear is that no matter what they are faced with or where they are, they need to know about Jesus.
This is not just my missions trip though, it is the Lord’s. My hope is that you would be willing to partner with us on this adventure! To be able to go on the race in September, I will need to raise a total of $12,491. Even the smallest amount would help! But what is more important than the financing is the prayer support. Having you along side me during the nine months through thick and thin would be an absolute blessing.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned about our God through this, it is to expect big things! So as this adventure is underway, if you would like to get in touch with me and learn more about the race, you can reach me at (262)745-4911 or [email protected]. I will also be blogging along the way at courtgrever.theworldrace.org.
With anticipation,
Courtney Grever
