This blog is as it states: not so profound. Never fear though! I am writing some cool stuff down about the happenings here in South Africa as we speak.

But hey… It’s 2016.

Yeah, that’s right! Happy New Years! And a belated Merry Christmas as well. The holidays here have been incredible but I miss you all!

It’s been a while since you’ve heard from me, so here’s a quick recap of the past MONTH. Time is flying!

– We said some hard goodbyes to our beautiful New Hope family and home in Cambodia. Living with my team and spending our time with the kids was a dream, no joke.

– We spent 71, yes, 71 hours traveling from Pursat, Cambodia to Jeffery’s Bay, South Africa! And we LOVED it.

– Here in JBay, one of the surf capitals of the world, we are living with our host family, the Isaacs, and doing ministry with Team Kids Out Back!

– Ministry. Where to start? We volunteer at a ranch on the beach, we go to local dairy farms to love on the children, we help Global Ministries build a school, and we do local evangelism. I LOVE THIS PLACE!

– Off days consist of going to the beach (which is a minute walk from our front door), going to the local gym, binge eating the delicious food our host provides for us, and exploring the town and beaches of JBay.

– A hasty decision to get my hair dyed back to blonde ended with my hair turning red and incredibly tangled. Oh, and I chopped it all off. Whoops! New year, new me?

– For Christmas, we went to Victory church and had a huge feast with our host family at their restaurant along with team KOB and their host family, it was great! I nearly rolled out the door afterwards. Eventually we got back to our house and opened our Secret Santa gifts.

– The New Year was spent in Cape Town, one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever been to! We climbed Table Mountain and saw the city from new heights. Definitely worth the sore legs.

-Markelle has a poncho!

– Now back in JBay, I’m nursing my second sunburn (I really did put on sunscreen, mom, I promise). And getting a little R&R before our days get busy again.

– Pray for our men, it’s “MANistry month” and all 12 of our guys are spending January in Lesotho. Find that one on a map!
