Hey! I am going to try to calm down my excitement a little and tell you a little about me π
I am Courtney Greene! I am currently 22 years old and live in Franklin, NC with my amazing family! Although I was born and raised in GA, Franklin is where I call home π I am one of 4 kids in my family. I have 2 amazing older brothers, and 1 incredible older sister. Both of my brothers are married to wonderful women (which gives me 3 wonderful sisters now). I have a beautiful nephew Nathan who is 5. My parents have been married for 30 years this September and are more in love today than the day they said "I do". I am very much in love with my family! I have a huge family and so, leaving them for a year is going to be quite the challenge for me.
I was saved when I was 12 years old. I had a great example from my parents of what a follower of the Lord looked like. I always had questions & one day I began asking those questions to a cousin of mine & an uncle. I was at Vacation Bible School & just realized I was a sinner in need of saving. Praise the Lord for sending His Son to save this life!
I was a college student at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. I studied Family and Consumer Sciences with minor in Biblical Studies. I didn't actually get my degree there. That is another story though. I am now currently living at home with my parents to figure out what it is that I have a serious passion for so I can dive right in to that1
A couple of defining moments in my life:
1.) July of 2008, I was in a pretty terrible car wreck that I basically wasn't suppose to walk away from. I was taking off trash one day for my mom & had my dog in the car with me. I looked down at her for a second & when I looked up, well, let's just say it isn't pretty! I ended up in a creek bed about 15-16 ft. down a bank. I had alot of damages done to my legs, face & back. So I couldn't really move all that well. It was basically impossible for me to get out of that truck. The Lord literally saved my life. Being that far down, with the amount of damage I had done, there was no way I could get up that hill by myself. Luckily, He carried me. I felt my car door open & someone pick me up. I was CARRIED back up the hill! When my feet was set on the pavement, I opened my eyes & noone was there! What a big God we serve right? I then walked a little ways, someone stopped & called 911. The rest is history π Spent 3 days in ICU & 4 days in a regular room, went home & I'm better than ever! PRAISE GOD!!!
2.) I have only been out of the country one time in my whole life and that was this past October. I took a missions trip to Burkina Faso, West Africa where my life was flipped upside down, in a good way π Everyone I went with was from my hometown, but only really knew a couple of people. This was pretty big for me. Anyways, I went over with really no expectations & got totally ripped apart! It was pretty intense. My team saw things that can never be erased from our minds. The defining moment for me was when I fell in love with this baby boy. What I didn't realize was, his mother was having a pretty difficult time. To make a long story short, I was holding her son & she came over speaking to me in French. I asked one of the missionaries there to translate for me. What I was about to hear is what changed my life. Basically, this woman was asking me to take her baby back to America with me. It blew my mind. Something you will learn quickly about me is, I love babies! They are so precious & special to me. Even the ones that aren't mine and the fact that this woman was trying to give me hers, well as you can imagine, my heart was broken, tears were flowing & I was ready to pack up and leave. That was pretty intense for me.
