How I came to getting on the World Race is a very simple story. After I got back from Africa, I decided to take some time off from school. I really had no idea what I wanted to do & I just couldn't handle pouring out more money into student loans to a school that I had no future in. So thankfully, I have great parents who said I could come back home & live with them until I figured out what I wanted to do!

Well, I have this very close group of friends that meets every Sunday night. All we do is just read from the Word & talk through it. We ask the hard questions, the easy questions, & the questions that we didn't even think existed! During this time, I have been searching & searching for ways to get back overseas. It stole my heart. I truly believe the Lord broke it & so with that, I began asking the "how" and "where" questions.

I heard about AIM through the man who's house we meet at every Sunday night. He was telling me & a couple friends (who are also going on the World Race this year) about it. I actually applied for the Immersion program which is 8 months long. I would've been in 3 contients for about 11 weeks each. Anyways, I guess I'm "old" (never actually thought of myself that way haha) but I got a call telling me that I would be turning 23 in the middle of my trip & the woman on the other end said she was going to recommend me for the World Race. I didn't mind. I was just dying to GO & serve. She told me it would be a couple days. Then she would call me back with the answer & details on what was next. Well, about an hour & a half later, she calls me back to tell me that I am accepted & gives me all the details! I was kind of in shock to say the least. Luckily, one of my very best friends Jessica Gasperin (who is also on this squad in July) was right there with me. She had actually gotten accepted right before me.

So that has been the journey thus far. Nothing outstanding, but just pretty cool!!! I love it!
