1. Plan for things to take longer because you have to stop every couple feet to pose for a picture. (India)
2. Milkshakes are not the same as North America, it usually comes out like chocolate milk not a chocolate milkshake.
3. Hand washing laundry is faster than machine washing. It’s the drying that takes longer. Some places way longer. (It’s always got to rain on the day you want to do laundry.)
4. Tuk Tuks are way funnier than taxis.
5. Always bring a rain coat if you are going out after 3pm. It will always rain, mostly a down pour. (Malaysia)
6. There is more than one way to make rice. And you can put pretty much anything into rice.
7. Don’t 7/11 sammies for every meal for two days in a row. (Bad tummy issues)
8. When you order something with chicken, the chicken always has bones in it. When you buy chicken raw, you get the whole chicken. (Inside and all)
9. Wearing layers looks different then North America. (We wear it for fashion, Asian wear for cultural reasons.)
10. Cold showers are lovely! (Just when your body is getting use to the heat you leave.)
11. Even though things are different their LOVE for God is the same. Sometimes better because they are not lost in the hustle and bustle of life.
God has taught me many things during my time in Asia. I am looking forward to what he wants to teach me in Africa.
