Meet John.
He’s my new travel buddy. He’s great. So sweet, unconditionally loving, and spunky. He’s currently a little camera shy and is hiding behind my pillow, but I’m hoping to turn that around rather soon. Don’t tell him, but he’s going to be photographed quite often in the next year! I want to be sure to capture all of our travels on camera!
Here he is in our brand new apartment! It’s fully furnished already and comes with one all-inclusive room that houses the bed, chair, reading nook, eating area, and closet all in one location!
But on a serious note, this is just a little taste of where I’ll be living for nearly all of 2014. It’s tiny and quaint but will definitely force a much greater dependence on my Savior! I’m so excited to be able to share this experience with y’all!
As for the start of this crazy journey, I recently went to training camp, where the Adventures staff did their very best to prepare all of us Racers for what is to come. Sometimes this meant eating different foods, or role-playing border crossings, or building teams (Shout out to Team All Out…!), or just being poured into by those around us. It was an intense week of learning and growing and meeting new friends with little sleep or down time. Everything Adventures did was somehow for our benefit.
For introverts like me, a week like this can be overwhelming. We like our quiet time. We need our space to think, process, be alone, and let down our walls. It’s essential to survival. Continuously being surrounded by 250+ people can be a lot to handle. Especially in the morning. Especially without coffee. But that doesn’t give me an excuse to be mean, negative, cranky, and grumpy. Rather, it should be even more reason for me to rejoice, for I am spending days upon days with 250+ people who share the same passionate love for the nations and desperately want to grow, strengthen, and challenge me in my walk with Christ. WHAT A BLESSING!!
It took a little (or big) shift in perspective for me to realize this. What areas of your life have you been looking at as a negative that are truly an immense blessing from your heavenly Father?
P.S. Here’s a few more pictures from Training Camp! Tent city and God’s beautiful creation!
