On Friday evening, I boarded a flight to New York to head to Haiti. Starting in Georgia…this is obviously not the most direct route. But… God knew that this would not be a flight in the wrong direction!

As I walked to my window seat, ready to get some sleep, I noticed a beautiful lady sitting there and asked her if her ticket was for the same seat as mine. She realized that she had read the sing wrong, but I took the isle seat to be more convenient. It was only a 2 and a half hour flight after all. (Seems like nothing after the travel on the World Race). As I sat down the woman next to me was trying to read something on her iphone. She made a comment about how this app would not zoom in and I asked her what it was. It was one that gave an inspirational message each day and she read it to me. She made a comment about dreams being important and so… I asked her… What’s your dream? This began a 3-hour conversation (without a single awkward pause… or even a chance for me to go to the restroom).

These two sisters shared their dreams and their faith with me. One, in the midst of a lengthy divorce, shared her desire to travel and do something meaningful. The other sister shared her dream of empowering women and her current work in life coaching where she cultivates young girls to dream. I shared my pursuit of my Kingdom Dream for Kenya and the ways in which God is blessing me right now. Our stories were mutually inspirational and encouraging. I realized that God wanted me on this flight. It may seem like an inconvenience fly the opposite direction to spend the night in an airport and then fly to Haiti, but this conversation about God and the way He is working in our lives was well worth it! These women confirmed some things in my life and I was able to confirm some thing in theirs.

Three hours later (our flight had been delayed, but none of us really took much notice to it) we landed in New York and a recent college grad stood up from the row behind us and asked me about the Philippines (which I had talked about over and hour earlier). She had been to the Philippines during her May term and we briefly shared our experiences. She admitted to having listened to the whole conversation between my new friends and I. It makes me wonder if anyone else was inspired, challenged or encouraged by overhearing us. To think all this started with a simple question… What’s your dream?

So… Let’s hear it! What’s YOUR dream? What are you passionate about?

(If you have trouble answering that, start with: What in this world is not okay? What infuriates you?)
