As promised… here is what happened during worship at training camp:
This time, my Kenya Initiative teammates were also at
training camp. On July 4th we had a commissioning for the team. The
staff and future World Racers all gathered around us to pray for our health,
our safety, our mission and for the people of Kenya. My heart was overwhelmed
to have a room full of a few hundred people interceding for our team and for
the people of Kenya that I’ve wept over in prayer for years now. All I wanted
to do was dance! Moments later, a girl from South Africa gets up on stage and
begins singing an African song and the whole room begins to dance… African
style!
The tears started flowing and I had that same smile I had
when I stepped off the plane in Kenya during the World Race. (I’m sure some
pictures will surface on Facebook once the racers have Internet).
After the African song was finished, Melissa began to sing a
blessing over Kenya and Africa. As we sang, I knew (even before she told us)
that this song was an intersession on behalf of these people. Mid-song she
explained, that this song of intersession was one of joy and not tears, one of
dancing and not of morning. If you’ve been following my blog you know that I
have interceded in prayer over the IDP camp in Kenya with many painful tears
and a sense of hopelessness. Last training camp I was able to rejoice, knowing
that we are coming to empower change and restore hope. And now… a room full of
people were dancing on their behalf.
We were dancing for their freedom!
Dancing for their Hope!
Dancing for change!
Dancing to bring God’s Kingdom to Earth!
We were dancing for Kenya!
