After three days of travel (Minnesota to Amsterdam,
Amsterdam to Nairobi, Nairobi to Kijabe) I am HOME! I was greeted at the
airport by my teammates and spent the night at Milimani Backpackers hostel.
This was the same place I had stayed twice on the World Race (for debrief and
one night before leaving Africa). I found myself expecting to see my squad
mates coming around the corner at any moment. While that did not happen I did
get to see a World Race team that was staying there for their first month of
ministry. A few of them I had met at training camp.

The next morning I had a cup of Chai (African tea that is
mostly milk and sugar) that melted away some of the surreal feeling and made me
feel at home. We had several meetings in Nairobi to attend to that morning,
including applying for a work visa and meeting with Habitat for Humanity to see
if they would aid in building homes in our IDP camp. We also went to
Deliverance Church Langata (where I had spent my 6th month of the
World Race) and I was able to reconnect with Pastor Ezekiel. We stopped at
Nakumat (grocery store) before we headed to Kijabe.

Once we had arrived in Kijabe, Cristianna and I put our
stuff in our room at Pastor Simon and Margret’s house. Before heading to Mama
Chiku’s for dinner an old friend randomly stopped by that I had visited the IDP
camps with years ago. She was leaving the next morning for the States.

The following morning I was able to reconnect with some
friends at RVA (Rift Valley Academy) where I had taught for 2 years before the
World Race. It is always good to see people who are like family.

Overall, the past few days have been filled with reunions
and the comforts of “home; all the things that I have missed from Kenya. I’ve
been overwhelmed by God’s love and provision in bringing me back to this place.
He truly does have great plans; better than I could make for myself. I am so
blessed!
