I don’t tend to be a very graceful person… in all sense of
the word. As a child, I would be
dancing at a wedding reception and slip and fall. Now, I did do a fancy pose,
to make it appear that I meant to fall and it was all part of my amazing dance
moves, but most people saw through me. We could blame it on slippery dress shoes, but that would not account
for the number of times I’ve ran into things while walking. My hips still feel
the brunt of this lack of grace.
I can say with confidence that I’ll never be a prima
ballerina, but that is not the type of grace that I am most concerned
with. Over the past month, I have
been learning about extending grace to others and to myself, as well as receiving
it. My squad leader and friend,
Kyla shared a wonderful illustration that inspired me to make the video below.
Just as a child, learning to walk, will stumble and fall
many times… we too will mess up many times, as we continually learn to walk
with the Lord. God, like a parent,
doesn’t become angry with the child or even disappointed when they fall yet
another time. Instead, He is excited to see us trying and He rejoices as we
get up and try again. This is what God’s grace is like.
and God says to me, “Good try, Courtney, you’re getting better. Don’t give up;
don’t sit there crying. Get back up and try again. With a bit more practice, you can do it; I believe in you!”
