month. I had a sore tooth, but was dealing with my health insurance
trying tosee what dentists were covered in my planonly to find that NONE of them
are, since my health insurance doesn’t cover any dental. With the time before I leave growing
short, I finally asked around for a dentist nearby that does a good job. Both
my dad and my aunt recommended Park Dental in Eden Prairie so I gave them a
call and was surprised that they were able to fit me in the very next morning.
I
shared with my new dentist that I had no dental coverage and was in-between
mission work and that I would greatly appreciate getting an estimate before
starting any treatment. She was very
understanding and even told me about a
book she was reading called “Half the Sky”. This book tells the true stories of women in oppression
around the world. She was particularly touched by the stories of women who are
sold into sex slavery and human trafficking. I was excited to share a bit more about my plans to minister
to that very group of women. To teach them job skills, giving them another
option for income. She then
blessed me greatly with her encouragement and even decided to not charge me for
x-rays and consultation fees for this visit. I was so amazed; she only just met me and was being so
generous. I thanked God as I left the office, knowing that He had brought me to
this Christian dentist as part of His plan.
picked-up my dad from work (since I had borrowed his car to go to the dentist)
and shared with him what had happened. He then asked how the rest of the
appointment went. I explained that I had waited so long that now the tooth
needed a root canal and she also found other cavities that should be filled
before I leave. I was a bit overwhelmed by the estimated $2,000 bill for all the work, but was thankful she
was able to schedule the appointments before Christmas and before I leave. When we arrived home I
noticed theanswering machine had a message on it. I pressed play and heard the voice of the lovely receptionist from the
dentist’s office. She asked me to call back so she could talk to me about a
discount if I reschedule my appointments. I called her up and held back tears
when she said my dentist would like to cover the expenses for the rest of my
treatment plan as her Christmas gift to me. I would need to change appointment
times so my dentist could work on her own time. Even as I type this I’m
tearing-up. I can’t put into words the feeling I have from this enormous burden
being lifted from me. Praise God for this unexpected blessing!
