On Friday, five of my teammates and I spent an hour in
paradise. After a stop at Village Market (My favorite mall in Kenya) where we
bargained at the Massi Market and ate lunch in the food court, we traveled
another hour to Kijabe. The overcast
weather did not put a damper on my excitement or on the green beauty of my
former hometown.

Valley Academy (the school I taught at for the past 2 years) just before
Chapel let out. The first person I saw was Sarah, who had been like a mother to
me the first time I came to Kenya alone. Four years ago, I lived with her and
her family until my own housing was ready. When Chapel finished and the students began to walk out into
the drizzle of rain, they saw me standing in the walkway. After an initial
glance of familiarity, since my being there was not so unfitting, the surprise
and excitement hit. A chorus began, “Miss Folwick……” and a mob of students
surrounded me with hugs and smiles. I was able to tell them more about what I’ve
been doing on the World Race and how much I’ve missed them.

knows how to give the best gifts! No one could ever give me a greater gift
then to hold the children that I poured into and loved and to know that even
after a year apart the impact God made through me was genuine and long lasting.
I’ve made a difference, however large or small God used me in their lives.
