For
the past 15 years or so I have been praying for an understanding of
God’s Unfailing Love. I know
that God loves me, understanding His love is a whole different thing.  The dictionary says that the word
unfailing is an
adjective meaning: 1. Not failing; not giving way; not falling short of
expectation; completely dependable: an unfailing friend. Or 2. Inexhaustible;
endless: unfailing resources; unfailing good humor.  I hate when they use a form of the word in the definition;
that does not help anyone!

With
little aid from my dictionary, I have continued to pray for God’s insight on
this abstract concept of
His Unfailing Love for me. I’ve dealt with years of feeling unlovable and to
be honest I think I am still overcoming, with God’s help, a few of the
lingering side effects. That is what makes this so exciting! As I learned from
my mother on the side of the snowy highway, when I accepted Christ, people will
always fail me. Regardless of how much they love me or how grand their
intentions are, people are human and they can’t love perfectly. The only one,
The Only One, that
will always love me and never fail me, is God.
His love is perfect… UNFAILING! That
night I went to my room and spent hours reading God’s Word and trying to
understand this love. I accepted it that night, but have spent 15 years trying
to really grasp it. Wednesday night, we had a worship service with Trumpets of
One (another team we are working with here in Byron Bay). During worship I
prayed with everything I have to be able to comprehend
God’s Unfailing Love and He began
to give me words:

Always there,

dependable, consistent,

NEVER in need of questioning or second guessing,

unconditional,

passionate,

uncontainable,

always growing,

self-denying,

There is an UNENDING list of words that could
describe God’s Unfailing Love.  If God has revealed
any insight on His Unfailing Love for you, would you please add to this list by
sharing it in a comment?
Or if one of
the ones above really touches your heart, would you share that with me?

My
prayer is that God’s Unfailing Love be within each of our grasps.
