Hey Friends!!

So launch is well on its way and it’s been such an amazing experience already. I’ve had the chance to meet up with my teammates again, I’ve had the opportunity to meet my teams parents, and we have had some pretty awesome sessions to help prepare us for this crazy adventure (ex. Digging deeper into our identity and who we are in Christ, learning how to live in community for 11 months, and getting to know how our team works as individuals and how we can make that work together as a team.) In the past couple days I’ve experienced so many emotions. I’ve experienced sadness because we are now a team of 5 and not 7 anymore, I’ve experienced pure joy while spending some short time getting to know my teams parents where we shared some great laughs and also more sadness as we all had to say our goodbyes yesterday. I’ve experienced exhaustion and tiredness because launch is like a giant party all the time but if you know me, as much as I love being at the party I do also need my sleep. And my current emotion as I write this, is excitement. I can’t wait for all of this training and preparation to be over so we can go out and start this amazing adventure God has set out for us.

Something we are constantly learning is that God works the most when there’s room for him to work. And that’s usually when things don’t go as planned and the only thing to do is turn to him. We are learning that as we are learning to now be a team of five but our team has also been thrown another curve ball since arriving to launch. We found out that our team (Team SurrendeR121) and one other team from our squad are no longer going to Ethiopia but instead we will be going to KENYA! The World Race hasn’t been going to Kenya for a few years because of safety issues, but they have now connected with a well-established organization there and we will be the first teams to re-enter the country. I’m so excited to be apart of this exciting piece of the adventure and cant wait to see all that God has planned for us while we cut new paths and create new relationships.

I also had the chance to FaceTime with Carley (my niece) this morning before her first day of grade three! I’m appreciating the little blessings that God gives me before I leave.

Its crazy to think we’ll be hangin’ out in Africa in two days!!

Updates:

As of Friday I am now FULLY FUNDED!! I honestly am so thankful for all that God has provided for me in this past year. Everything from fundraising to purchasing gear for the race to providing me with the most amazing support team I’m just blown away with how amazing God is and the Race hasn’t even started.

Prayer:

As I sit here on my bed in the hotel room, the overwhelming thought of being in Africa in two days is pretty crazy. My prayer is that God would provide peace and comfort as we enter our first country.

Another prayer request is for my team. We have been through a lot already and we haven’t even left the US yet, but I know this is only God preparing us for all the challenges to come this year. Please pray for unity and good communication to help keep our relationships healthy and that we would grow together as one family.

Thanks!!

My next blog will be comin at ya from Uganda!!

Until next time!
