When I tell people that I’m going on the World Race, they tend to follow up with the question of “Why?” Two words come to mind when they ask me that.
Kingdom and Love
Why?
There would be no point in going on this mission trip if it wasn’t for Jesus dying for us. Before He went to Heaven He commanded us to do something for Him.
Jesus said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20
“And proclaim as you go, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.' 8Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay. 9Acquire no gold nor silver nor copper for your belts” Matthew 10:7-9
“The KINGDOM of Heaven is at hand!” When we accepted Him and He adopted us into His family we became royalty! I am a princess, YOU’RE a Prince/Princess of the King of Kings and WE have a place in His KINGDOM!
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." John 13:34-35
“These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. 12"This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13Greater love has no one than this that someone lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:11-13
How can we further the Kingdom if we don’t love people? Seriously?!?!
It STARTS with LOVE…..God is love! The Holy Spirit lives in us therefore God’s love is in us! Are you allowing that to pour out of you like a waterfall? Just imagine if we loved people like Jesus commanded us to do……it would be so powerful! Think of Niagara Falls, if all that water with all that power was our love for people…. WOW!! We actually could CHANGE THE WORLD FOR THE KINGDOM!!!!
On the Race we will be doing a lot of just LOVING PEOPLE. Loving people can come in different ways. Orphans that just need held and played with and they feel loved. Women stuck in the sex trade just need to know they are worth something more and that Jesus loves them without anything in return. The hungry will feel loved just by feeding them and spending time with them. Love can be shown and expressed in many different ways!
