Sorry it's been so long since I've blogged…… it's been really hard to get internet these days.
Honduras has been awesome and God is working in some amazing ways!!! Let me share with you what we've been up to!
We're living at Zion's Gate which is ran by Tony…. Tony's ministry is to the street kids of Los Pinos. The Ghetto is afraid of Los Pinos that's how bad it is there. He builds relationships with these street kids and when they are ready to fully trust Tony and want a new life Tony brings them here to live with him and his wife. He teaches them about Christ, puts them in private Christian schools, they learn English and much much more. They learn how to have a family, how to trust, how to love, how to be loved, and how much Christ loves them! On the property there is Tony's house, the bathrooms (three toilets and two showers for 51 people) and there's what used to be a old night club which is where we eat, sleep and hang out. We also have the opinion of sleeping in our tents which most people do.
My Team's ministry is with Pastor Selenas and his family/church. He has three children who are our translators. Everyday looks different for us, some days we do prayer walks through neighborhoods, pray and visit with people in the hospitals and nursing homes, and teach and hang out with the youth group. Also experiencing the real Honduras 🙂 We also bring some of Tony's boys with us which has become a HUGE ministry all on it's own. Wade, Jake and Kayla have all three been able to give messages to the church or youth group, and Jaime was able to share her testimony with the church as well!!
This month I'm really learning a lot more about the importantance of building relationships are which builds more trust on both sides. These kids know what it's like to have nobody, it's not easy for them to trust people. We have to work hard at building that relationship, that trust. I've grown to love these kids very much and it's going to break my heart even more this month when we leave….. but let's not talk about that yet 😉
