The end of last week brought with it completion, celebration, and transition.
We finished our work on the Latham’s property. Primarily hauling all the tree branches to burn piles, raking all the leaves, clearing the roofs, pressure washing all necessary surfaces, and advancing their website and newsletter.
On Friday, our last day with Roger and Vivienne, one of our team members was baptized! Alison had been thoughtfully praying about the right time and place to receive this gift for some time, and on Friday Roger and the rest of us had the pleasure of experiencing this moment with her in the kiddy pool at the Latham’s home. We sang worship songs, dunked her, walked to the beach to watch the sunset, and spent the rest of the evening eating barbeque, chatting, and singing to the Lord. It was a beautiful day.

Saturday we cleaned our living area, packed up our bags, and hit the road for Katherine. We arrived early evening and settled into our house on the homestead of our new contact. Rachel is 32 years old and has been working closely with the Aboriginal communities in this area for years. On Sunday we met Anita and Simone, her Aboriginal sisters. She has known their family all her life and speaks their language (Kriol) fluently.

Rachel does a lot of work with Bible translation but her primary focus is discipleship; making sure people grow in understanding and use of the Bible once it’s translated into their language.  Our activities this week will include fixing up some outdoor areas used annually for a Christian Conference, preparing and leading a two day Christian camp for Aboriginal children, and visiting Indigenous communities for fellowship.
