Before I applied to the World Race I would spend hours searching for any advice racers had for those considering the WR. I read so many good things about what to consider before applying and it was surprising to see so many racers sending out encouragement to those they have never even met.
I just want to take a second and thank all the racers who took time to write “future racer" blogs. You guys might not know how much of an impact you made on my life and others but let me assure you, you guys did good haha. I was constantly being reminded that, “God doesn’t call the qualified but qualifies the called.” Because let's be honest, if you had to be qualified in someway to go on this trip I wouldn’t even make it past the first step of the application process. I would probably be rejected right then and there.
So getting back to my main point of this post I just want to reach out to everyone who is thinking about going on the World Race. I know I’m not really the best person to be giving advice since I’m not actually on the race yet but I just want to share some truth about this crazy thing.
When I was looking for God’s guidance on whether or not to apply for the WR, one piece of advice that was brought up many times throughout blogs I read was pray. Pray constantly to God, asking Him to show you what He wants you to do.
[1 Thessalonians 5:17]
One of the main things I wanted to make sure was that I would be doing this trip for God to use me, not because I just wanted to go and thought it would be a really cool experience. Don’t get me wrong; I have no doubt that this experience will be amazing. However, I know it’s going to be really hard as well. I just wanted to make sure my heart was in the right place when applying.
So soaking up as much information as I could from current and past racers, I figured that God would give me some sort of a sign….but He didn’t. At least not in the way I expected. I once read that,
[My Utmost For His Highest]
For me, God showed me in a way that was humbling to me. He didn’t give me some huge flamboyant sign saying, “Do this!”
[My Utmost For His Highest]
So I want to give you, yes you, a sort of a challenge. If you’re thinking about going on the WR, look at your heart and think. Are you waiting for that big sign from God? Maybe if you take a second and search your heart and pray you’ll see He’s already given you that sign, just maybe not in the way you were expecting.
Lastly, one of my favorite things I’ve read from a “future racer” blog is this,
[From a very wise racer but I can’t remember their name :'( ]
