Fourth story at a bar overlooking the city.
Prophesying and speaking life over the people below.
ATL'n it.
God, what do you want to do tonight?
awkwardness.
"Hey, did you get anything?"
"I don't know, did you?"
Sam: I saw a black t-shirt with white writing and got the word fork.
Me: sweet. I got directions. Go straight, turn left, then right.
Me: Wait, God, what streets do I turn on?
Papa: Second left, first right.
Sam: I feel like I'm supposed to hug this person.
Me: I feel like they recently went through something and they're grieving.
Leggo.
The Lord proceeded to take us
on what seemed like a wild goose chase.
As we walked, he would download new directions.
Sam would see arrows,
I would get impressions.
We just decided to go ahead and trust him,
even if it all seemed insane.
We stopped a few times to regroup.
We asked the Lord if he had anything else.
i got second floor, man, and glasses.
Sam kept getting directions
and confirmation that we were going the right way.
Alright, onward.
Turn left here.
Go straight two blocks.
Turn right.
Papa, where are we going?
We stopped again outside of a restaurant.
There was a second floor that you could go up to.
We decided to try it out,
even though it looked like a hotel,
and the stairs would only lead us to someone's room
(which sounded a little too insane for my first encounter like this).
We asked if the restaurant had a second floor,
and were told that it did not.
The lady asked if we were looking for a specific place.
"Oh yeah, ya know, the Lord is just leading us to a certain place.
We have no idea where it is. Thanks for your help."
Haha ok so, we didn't say that.
Wouldve been hilarious though.
We took a seat on the curb.
We weren't discouraged,
just confused.
Again we asked Papa what he was doing.
I looked up and saw a golden star.
i had thought I heard that earlier,
but I wrote it off because the Vietnamese flag
has a star on it, and I figured we'd be seeing them everywhere.
oops.
Sorry Papa.
We sat a little longer.
I saw God handing me an envelope.
I dont know how,
but i knew that instructions were inside.
But when I went to open it,
There was nothing written on the page.
i had no idea what to think of that.
God doesnt taunt us,
so it wasn't for nothing that somehow I knew
that it was supposed to be instructions.
I took it to mean that the instructions aren't written on a page,
but on my heart.
So I sat and listened, and felt like I heard sneakers and fire.
Rannnndom.
Meanwhile, Sam had seen yet another arrow and a Chrsitmas tree.
So again we ventured forth down this sketch, unlit street.
But God told Sam that he would protect us.
God continued to give both Sam and I directions.
I felt Him say that we weren't supposed to go any further away from our hotel,
which is funny because I had no idea where that was anymore.
Finally, we get to this place and there's a giant sign lit up.
I kinda had an impressions that it was the place,
but I wasn't entirely sure so I didn't say anything.
But God didn't let that stop us.
Sam spoke up boldly and simply said "that's the place."
Ok sweet,
were finally here.
It ended up being a live music bar.
There was no other option than going to the second floor.
That meant I actually heard him right!!
We walked in an found a place in the back to sit.
It was super loud and we cold hardly hear ourselves think.
As it turned out, this was a pretty classy place.
You either had to pay $7.50 for the entertainment or buy a drink.
I secretly thought to myself "God, you couldn't have chosen
a less expensive place to minister in? I'm a World Racer!"
Haha but it was all good.
No sooner had the waitress walked away
did a man approach us.
White writing in his shirt.
Glasses hanging from the collar.
Nor sure what color the shirt was because it was pretty dark.
Looked to be maroon from what I could tell,
but who knows?
God, have we found the guy?
Dude was gone.
Like, one too many about five beers ago.
He had a friend there from Sydney
who we talked to a little.
He had a lady friend that he would visit.
We mostly just sat at our table the rest of the time
and talked some with the both of them.
We didn't really talk about much.
The Vietnamese guy asked for my number.
Told him I didn't have one,
which I find hilarious considering that sounds
like a line you'd use when you don't want a guy to have your number,
when in reality I legitimately don't have a phone haha.
World Racer probs.
Sam and I left to come home.
Turns out the place was like five minutes from our hotel.
Guess God really did take us on a wild goose chase in a way.
Anyway, the best part about this story is that I didn't do anything.
i mean yes, theres a point where you have to yield your spirit
and allow him to speak to you,
but aside from that,
he did EVERYTHING.
There's no special prayer or way to "usher him in" so to speak.
All I said was a puny little "So…. God, wanna do something?"
I realized three main things from this experience.
One- he really can use me!
These aren't stories for "super Christians,"
or people who say the right thing,
because there is no right thing.
All it takes is a simple desire for his presence.
Two- He's ALWAYS ready to move.
it may not look anything like what I just told you,
but the point is he's always on the move.
The World Race teaches you to drop expectations.
But theres one expectation that you should always have,
and that's for him to show up.
Three- its OK if you mess up.
Remember the fire and sneakers thing?
Dude was wearing flip flops.
and there was no fire as far as I know.
Extend grace to yourself when you don't get things right.
Gods not gonna be disappointed in you.
Ask,
expect him to show up,
Have grace over yourself if you mess up,
and just dive in head first.
Adventures are waiting 🙂
