On Monday, Sam and I had the opportunity
to climb to the first base camp of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
We both wanted to do the full climb,
but after hearing stories,
it sounds like blowing chunks was an inevitable fate,
so I can’t say I’m too terribly sad,
although that would’ve been sick.
Literally.
Haha.

Anyway, we arrived at the National Park at around 11:00am
and chilled for about an hour.
Needless to say, our hunger got the best of us before we even started.

Finally, we were on our way!

It was quite a hike.
For the first hour we were gettin’ it.
After we stopped for lunch,
The rest made us realize how tired we already were.
But we pressed on!
At about 2:45 we had arrived at the first base camp called Mandara.

We thought we were finished,
but we went up 300 more meters to look at the Maundi Crater.

It was absolutely beautiful.
You could see miles into the distance.
It was too cloudy, so we couldn’t get a picture of the top of Kili.
But, lucky for us, we have a perfect view from our house.

It was an incredible day filled with adventure and awe.
I think I kinda like my God.
He knows how to serve up some killer sights!
