WARNING: some of you might think I’m crazy for this blog,
but chances are you’ve already thought that about me a time or two,
so I guess we’re good right? 🙂
And if this is your first time reading one of my blogs, welcome!
So….Tanzania.
Not quite sure how to describe it.
But the spiritual atmosphere has been pretty dark.
The passport girls had heard from the Lord that it would be.
And soon after getting here, we realized it as well.
It seemed like every night quite a few of us had demonic dreams,
felt dark presences, or had trouble sleeping.
So we decided to have a night of worship.
Afterwards, we walked around and made declarations over the land.
Then it was off to bed.
We woke up the next morning for breakfast and talked about our nights.
Guess what?
The same things happened.
I don’t know about you,
but I was confused.
It didn’t make sense to me.
I mean, we made declarations and worshipped!
I would’ve thought that would take care of some things.
Fast forward to a couple nights ago.
I had made a list of declarations to proclaim before bed,
but had fallen out o the habit of saying them for the past few nights.
So that night, I picked it back up again.
And once again, I had bad dreams.
Ok…am I missing something?
But then I remembered a story one of the girls had told.
One of the pastors at Bethel church in California had a demon
that would stand at the foot of his bed every night.
So, he went to the typical “I rebuke you in Jesus’ name!” prayers.
But then one night, he felt the Lord tell him that the next time he wakes up and sees the demon,
instead of rebuking it to simply say “oh, it’s just you,” and go back to sleep.
So he tried it the next night,
and the demon never bothered him again.
I heard once in a podcast by Graham Cooke that warriors live in the laughter of their King.
How freaking true is that!
When you really know who you are,
Satan’s attempts to get at you should crack you up.
Maybe instead of making declarations for the covering of the blood
and rebuking Satan, which can sometimes be words spoken out of fear anyway (but not all the time),
why not try out declarations of a different kind?
“Oh, it’s just you.”
“HAHAHAHA. ”
“Hey, have you heard the one about Jesus?”
Please don’t misunderstand me.
I’m not trying to imply that we can just throw on our stunna shades
and lounge at the beach.
In fact, I think that’s exactly what Satan would want us to do.
It's extermely important to speak the promises of God over our lives.
I’m simply offering a different approach.
We can be on our guard and at the same time live in the laughter of our King.
After all, there’s more power in God’s big toe than in the whole of Satan and his armies.
