Here in Malaysia, we have been working with four ministries: YWAM Penang, KAWAN Homeless Ministry, St. Nicholas School for the Blind, and Penang Adventist Hospital. Each ministry has been different but amazing in its own way. We also celebrated Jessie’s 25th birthday!
YWAM Penang
YWAM is our primary contact, and this month we are living in their building. They have helped organize the other ministries for us. This past Saturday evening, we worked with YWAM Penang to host a youth conference at a local church.

We organized ice-breaker games to help everyone get to know each other. We also performed the Lighthouse “Everything” drama, and Jessie shared her testimony. There were over 50 youth from all over the Penang area.

KAWAN Homeless Ministry
KAWAN was started 5 years ago and provides breakfast and lunch for the homeless here in Penang. We help prepare the food, talk with those that come, and help clean up once everyone is finished. We also painted a mural on the wall when you enter the building.

St. Nicholas School for the Blind
We have helped the staff at St. Nicholas clean the school and organize their files. We have started to form relationships with the staff and are sharing the love of Christ with them. Although their is not a lot of direct contact with the students, the interactions we have had have been fruitful.
Penang Adventist Hospital
This is the same hospital where Jessie was admitted for treatment of Dengue Fever when we first arrived in Penang. We are working with their development office to raise money for children to receive heart surgeries and for the fight against cancer. Each day as we arrive at the hospital, we put on our fashionable volunteer vests, grab our donation boxes, and start walking through various waiting rooms asking for donations. Each day, so far, we’ve been able to help raise over 1000 RM (Malaysian currency) which is over $325. God has really been blessing our efforts.

Raising money is only one of the many ways that we have been able to assist the hospital. Jessie has been able to help in the Human Resources office by organizing documents and inputting data. The ladies in the office have enjoyed the extra help and are finally able to get caught up!

On Friday, we were able to partner with the hospital and a local organization that helps children that have down syndrome. We got to throw a birthday party for one of the children! She was so excited. We played games and sang songs with all of them and just loved on them! They are such amazing children!

Jessie’s 25th Birthday
We played three-in-a-hat, had a dance party, and enjoyed some cake as we celebrated another year of Jessie’s life!

I can’t believe that this is our last month! It seems like it has gone by so quickly. We finish up ministry this week and will be heading to Final Debrief which is the last week of the Race! Then, on June 9th, we fly home to the States.
