One of my dreams… to be a part of someone receiving Christ.

Samuel, our translator, is looking at Karen while she takes
in all that he’s just told her about her dream. He then decides to tell her
more about Jesus, that He was the one who came to her in her dream. Karen is
listening very intently to all that Samuel says. After a few minutes Sam turns
back to us and says that she wants to know Jesus. She wants to know Jesus! At
first we are all thinking we heard his translation wrong, because let’s face
it, we’re dealing with translating things.  But he tells us that we should pray for her to
know Jesus and then to pray for her hand, because she can’t really use her left
hand.

 We are all thinking
that we’re going to pray over her like we do everyone else, all at the same
time and then Sam will close us in their language, Khmer. So we gather around
her and then Sam asks, who would like to pray for her. I say that I will, still
thinking that I am only closing us in prayer. And then the prayer starts. It is
just me praying. Apparently I was the only one not comprehending what was going
on here!

I say the first sentence and Sam starts interpreting and
Karen starts repeating what he’s saying! She is praying to receive Christ!! So
I keep praying, trying not to get too excited because this is the first time I’ve
ever been a part of this step in someone coming to know the Lord. Her children
have also gathered around her, and they even start repeating what I’m saying!
Now I know that they probably didn’t know what they were really doing, but they
were still speaking these things over themselves!

In the midst of my praying Karen starts crying. Realization
has hit and in that moment, as it is for most people, the only response is tears. After
I finish praying for her we all look into her eyes and she seems different.
There is relief in her eyes. She is still crying, but she looks lighter. I
would have been crying in that moment with her if it weren’t for the fact that
any extra water in my body was only coming out of my skin and not my tear
ducts!

Then Sam tells us it’s time to pray for her hand.
