As month 8 builds to a middle point, and Parent Vision Trip creeps up on all of us, I’ve thought about my family a lot. My parents aren’t coming to PVT, which is probably for the best since I would never be able to let them go if they did come. But I haven’t just thought about my parents. I’ve also thought a lot about my sisters. I have two little sisters, Caroline (15. Wait, are you really 15?!?!?) and Kendra (7). And since I’ve been thinking about you so much, Caroline, I decided to write a blog for you.
Dear Caroline,
Sorry we didn’t hang out more while I was at home. Sorry I didn’t play Mario Kart with you more or take you EHS football games or pick you up from school more (in my super awesome car, right!!!). I’m really happy for all the times we did get to hang out, when I got to drive you in my super awesome car. And I can’t wait to hang out with you again when I get back! Start writing a list of any of the things you want to do over the summer when I get home and we’ll see if we can make it happen.
You’re super smart, Caroline, even when you don’t feel like it. God made you in his own special way, and you’ve just started that part of your life where you get to begin digging deeper into who He made you to be. Don’t be scared. Don’t be hard on yourself. Don’t do the stupid things your friends will tell you to do. Listen to mom and dad. They’re the best parents in the whole world, and they care about you in the same way that Jesus cares about you. And Jesus cares about you a lot. He died for you! Wake up every day remembering that there’s a God, and He loved you so much He sent his Son just for you, that no matter how often we forget about him or screw up and do bad things, He is so full of grace that He couldn’t just leave us. His goodness pours out on us every single morning. Let your life show that. Don’t just go to church or go to camp or go to youth group. Actually let your life reflect that God has done incredible things for you, and you want to let the whole world know. And you don’t have to take 11 months out of your life to travel the globe to let the whole world know. You can start right in your own bedroom.
Speaking of bedrooms, I encourage you to leave yours at some point this weekend. Go outside. But if it’s cold, then you don’t have to go outside, but you can still go and do something. 🙂 Thanks for being an amazing little sister, and for putting up with me when I wasn’t the best older sister. Be nice to Kendra. Do your homework. Do what mommy tells you. DON’T DRINK. JUST DON’T. DRINKING IN HIGH SCHOOL IS RIDICULOUS. SAY NO. And say no to boys too. They’re just trouble at this age. They get a lot better when they get older, I promise. At least that’s what people tell me. Work hard. Be nice to people. Don’t gossip.
Thanks for being you, Caroline. I love you, and I’ll be seeing you in May!
Love, your big sissy Coco.
