Growing up, I’ve hadn’t really thought about being a missionary. It just wasn’t something that crossed my mind all that often.

At camp, VBS, or Bible Bowl Conferences, I remember missionaries would come and talk to us, showing slideshows and passing around little buttons in foreign languages. I felt called to serve God; however, it didn’t look like foreign missions would be the vehicle for my service. God has a funny way of taking things you may not have fully considered and bringing them back up again.

Throughout college, my direction in life was not crystal clear. Whenever anyone asked, the only answer I had was “serve God”. That was all I ever wanted. To be a servant. Nothing could fill me up the way that helping other people did.

So when I found out about World Race during my freshman year of college, it stayed in the back of my mind. About six months ago, I started thinking about it again. College was ending, and I still didn’t have a plan that spoke to me. The common answer of “Well, I could just get a job and live with my parents some more” didn’t sound like what God was calling me to pursue.

I thought about the World Race. I prayed. I asked people. I applied for The Race. And then I got in. So I prayed some more. I asked more people about it.  And after a few more weeks of prayer and preparation, I said ” yes.” I’m going for it. God has a way to make your dreams possible. So here it is.

I’ll be spending 11 months as a missionary, traveling to 11 different countries to work one-on-one with the missionaries and believers already there, to impact the community by providing for their needs and spreading the gospel of Christ.

In Matthew 25:40, in a parable to his disciples, Christ said, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” And you can help me be a part of that.

If you would like to help in this mission work, there’s a link for donations on the left-hand side of this blog, under SUPPORT ME. Thank you guys so much for your prayers, and support, and for reading this blog. You guys are the bees knees, and I couldn’t do it without you. 🙂
