You make a mess out of me.
I shudder to think of what I would be if you had not invaded my life.
The flood would have consumed me
And the breaths would have ceased.
I would have imploded and turned to dust
While the world around me to rust –
But you wouldn’t let me go.
You had to have my heart
And every piece of me, had to have your Spirit
Make a home within me.
I tried to run away and you said nothing
Just kept stoking the fire you started in me
Before you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
You waited patiently
Gently placing an intricate design
Winding your will before my eyes ;
But I was too blind to see.
And like a firework
Your goodness burst with the light
Of a hundred thousand suns
And I was captivated by
The wonders you created just for me.
I am enthralled while you embrace me,
The daughter you always longed for –
So much you moved mountains
Just to see her – to see me –
Run back into the Father’s arms.
