Sometimes it’s easier to write about the hard stuff, but I don’t want anyone to get the wrong idea here. I write blogs to share struggles, to share what God is teaching me – I would rather be vulnerable and genuine and shunned for it than try to mask the way the Lord is working in me. Every obstacle I encounter is a way for God to minister to me and you, a way for me to experience another piece of Him and His heart.
That being said, I want to reflect on what Father God has done in the past month, as my team and I traipsed along to three different countries with zero plans and a hundred prayers. We were completely floored by provision, to say the least.
Suriname was our first country as a new team entering Unsung Heroes and “ATL” or Ask the Lord ; essentially going into a place with no contacts and fully leaning on God to provide us with everything. Each morning in Paramaribo began with listening prayer, scripture or devotional readings and encouragement, a hot cup of coffee on our outdoor balcony.
We had a few words from the Lord and were expectantly awaiting : the name Melissa, a shape like a space station, the color purple. You won’t hear about these during our adventures in Suriname, but make sure to remember them for later.
After a few days of exploring, we stumbled upon the first contact opportunity. With a team full of performance-oriented women, we had felt pressure the night before, not wanting to force a hand in finding a contact, but not wanting to give up on what the Lord may have.
We happened across a school that had a cathedral in front of it and we wandered in, looking to connect. After a few conversations, a contact was made and interest spurred ; but instead of the one location, we were connected with no less than 60 schools in the entire country, all eager for the partnership opportunity.
Jaw drop number one. You could feel the air stirring with greatness. So on we went to French Guiana, teaming up for a travel day with team Remnant.
