It has already been a week since we left the States…crazy! I joined the group that walks over to a cafe outside our compound today because I wrote this post yesterday and didn’t want to wait until the weekend to share it.

First, a quick word on ministry. We have had a great turnout so far – nearly 60 kids came the first day and a few more even showed up Tuesday. Lightforce is all about developing teamwork in the kids and building relationships with the community so that is awesome! The biggest difference in this camp is that it’s not a Vacation Bible School or church day camp like the ones I’ve worked in the past, so we are working to show the kids Jesus’ love by spending with them, serving them, and making sure they have lots of fun, rather than telling them Bible stories. Some of the activities are things that they would not normally have access to, especially the girls. The pool, zip line, bounce houses, and climbing wall seem to be big hits, which has definitely resulted in some cute pictures that I’ll try and post this weekend.

One of the words that keeps popping up this week is intentional. I hear it in the context of being intentional with God, with prayer, with teammates, and with the children who are at this camp. Then I realized yesterday morning while sitting on “guard” duty (basically making sure the kids don’t wander off into our rooms) that the word intentional has everything to do with the song that’s been going through my head a lot lately.

I’ve made it one of my goals this month to embody the idea that everything I do, I do with the intention of making a God-move. I think this month, being almost cut off from the Internet and other distractions, I will really be able to grow in terms of spiritual discipline which I am super excited about!
