I finished a nine day training camp last week. I learned, prayed, bonded, experienced, cried, listened, laughed, sacrificed and made incredible memories. It was not easy. We were immersed in missionary culture right away. I would love to share all the details with you but we were told not to so we don't ruin the surprises for future training campers.
All I can tell you is that we learned how to live with less and to work together for the things we needed. Despite the challenge it was one of the best experiences I have ever had. It taught me to live in community with my teammates and how living a simpler life removes the distractions that keep me from fully experiencing what God wants for my life and how he uses community to empower us.
One of my best memories was after a female treat, we came back to our sleeping area and randomly decided to pray for each other, one at a time. We set up two lines side by side facing each other and sent one person at a time down the line as we laid our hands on her and prayed as she walk down the line. It was a amazing experience. When the guys came back from their retreat we surrounded them and prayed for them. I believe that they really appreciated the love that we showed them and it gave them confidence in their role as Godly leaders and protectors for our team.
I can believe how close I have gotten to my squad in such a short time. We haven't even got out onto the field yet and we have already cried, vomited, showered and shared our live stories with each other. I can't wait to how much closer ( except the vomiting part, you will have to ask me about that one) we become when we enter the world of endless possibilities together.
I still can believe what God has called me too. I'm scared to leave home and go out into the unknown to bring the Gospel to people whom I have never met and don't even know their culture. But I know this is a step of faith. God has prepared me for this and will be with me every step of the way. Training camp has showed me that I'm not alone in my fears and that we were all called together as a family to bring God's Kingdom to earth.
"Your Kingdom come. Your will be done. On earth as it is in Heaven.' Matthew 6:10
