“If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever — the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you will also live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father and you are in me, and I am in you. Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.”
John 14:15-21
This is one of my favorite passages of the bible. It tells us about the love God has for us.Â
Here Jesus promises the holy spirit to us. He says if you accept Him, he will show you the truth. Many people don’t accepted the truth that he shows us but is the truth regardless.Â
Jesus cares about us and wants  a relationship with us and when we have a relationship with Him we want to obey Him. God is not some far off powerful man sitting on His throne keeping tabs on everyone. He is here with us in our lives everyday. He cares about every part of our life and wants us to invite Him to be a part of it. Our God wants us to talk to Him and to come to Him with our problems. He calls himself a counselor because he wants the best for us, not to punish us for our wrong doings. When we love Jesus and dedicate our lives to Him we naturally want to obey Him.
We understand His word through prayer and fellowship with God. It’s hard to get to know someone if you don’t send time with them. So when we spend time with God He reveals Himself to us. God doesn’t have to but he wants to because he loves us and wants a relationship with us.
You must know God to know what true love really is. God’s love is unlike any other love any human could give. It says in the bible that God is love, so to know God is to know true love. Because of the love God has for us He grants us the gift of life by the way of salvation so when we die we can be with Him for all of eternity. Only those who have relationship with Christ and love Him will have eternal life.
Even if we choose to ignore Him He still does not leave us. God is constantly chasing after us, even when we run from Him. God is also forgiving, when we do wrong in our lives God forgives those who come to Him and seek repentance. He wants us to depend on Him like children. We should have faith like a child.
When we depend on God we see that blessings come from Him and that Jesus is the ultimate example of Gods love for us. When we accept Jesus into our hearts God forgives us of all our sins and shame and we are made new in His eyes. Nothing can separate us from our relationship with our Father, His holy spirit is in us always.
