I’m not a huge fan of Chris Tomlin because he’s been singing for so long, but I have just encountered How Great is Our God – World Edition.
WHOA.
I don’t know if it’s the guy singing Hindi in the beginning, but it definitely is pushing my heart right along towards July. I’ve probably listened to it about 15 times today? Apparently Chris Tomlin sent out the request separately to some friends overseas, having them record their own version separately, and then worked it together. How amazing that the guys singing Spanish and Portuguese sound so well together?! If you’re interested in more of the background of the song check it out, it’s cool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRUBEgdVSzc.
Every tribe. Every nation. Every language. the world of men.
I came across this Scripture in Habakkuk today which really encouraged me at work today:
“And the Lord answered me: ‘Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still the vision awaits for its appointed time; it hastens to the end – it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.'” (Habakkuk 2:2-3)
2013 indeed was a year of consecration to the Lord, but it taught me something. Setting yourself apart for the Lord and discerning His will for your life is not a passive task. Yes, it requires prayer, meditation, and much thought. You have to actually move forward in faith and see if the door will open. I often found myself becoming frustrated when I realized God wasn’t just going to drop the answer while I was journaling or have Scripture jump out at me.
It took time, and it wasn’t easy. I had to continually ask God. It was a process. I had to come to a place of complete desperation, needing to hear from God; and even then, I needed others to come along-side to ask with me. My brother and his friends at college were praying for me. My Mom prayed. I am especially thankful for my Sunday School class “Acts 2:42 Fellowship of Believers.” They are mighty soldiers in the army of God. They fight hard. They pray hard. They love like Christ. It has been such an honor to learn from them. Colossians 1:3-14 will have to be a Scripture I pray for them often.
“The World of Men.” It is vast. It is large. God has made men in His image and commanded them to be fruitful and multiply. Thus, the earth indeed is full of His glory.
