I don’t care who you are, but The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is awesome.  It’s easily becoming my inspiration behind these blog titles, and it’s fabulous

My church recently passed out devotionals for December, January, and February.  I couldn’t wait so I decided to start.  It’s kind of insane because God seems to be speaking directly and so clearly into this little life of mine.  Today’s topic was based on Philippians 4:6, not to worry, but pray.

Today, however, the author (whoever that may be) drew an analogy from a recent movie which I haven’t seen yet: Life of Pi.  It totally transformed my way of thinking about anxiety.  He said having anxiety is like having an undefeated foe: “you open yourself to further attacks of fear because you never truly fought the opponent who defeated you.”  The BEST quote, however, is when he calls the reader to bring those fears into the light of Christ: “Drag them out and make them stand before God.”  What an awesome and powerful image!  As my brother always says, “BOOM ROASTED.”  What fear is going to overtake God?  What giant is stronger than my God?  I tell you, none whatsoever.  He is the Mighty God, and He stands behind me ready to help me slay any lie cloaked in fear.  Hallelujah

So that was the “light bulb” revelation moment God gave me today, and I’m very grateful God still speaks.  He is alive and still active.  He is my God, and I am His child. Forever.

I will conclude with another LOTR reference.  Aragorn (King of the good guys) gives his concluding speech to unite all the forces of men to fight the final battle against the Mordor (the bad guys).  I think it ties in well about sticking it out and fighting this world of darkness which has no power in the light of all that is good [God]:

“Hold your ground, hold your ground! Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!”
