The First Letter from Connor to Paul The Apostle:
To get a better understanding of why I wrote this I suggest reading my last blog “I Will Not Read The Bible”. There, I talk about How I read the Bible last month and how I’m reading it this month. I also recommend reading the book of Galatians to get a better idea of where most of this is coming from. It’s a short read you can probably get it done in 20 minutes at max. Also, there are no references for my quotes because the format in which we have our version of Galatians is in letter format just like the original.
The first letter of Connor, a brother of the fellowship and honorary member of the church of Galatia,
To Paul The Apostle.
Dear Paul, although, as you might notice in this letter, the fellowship is not of Galatia nor in Galatia, we respect the words which you have written to Galatia as if they were intended for us. For the words you give are not your own but those of God the Father. Your letter should be shared with the entire world, this is a goal that we wish to accomplish not for you but He who inspired you.
I wonder what you would think of the church as a whole today. I imagine not a one of your apostles would be all to pleased with the division we have brought upon ourselves. Would you think that we have turned away from the Gospel originally preached to us? Probably. It seem as though we are incapable of coming together as one, under one banner, marked by a cross. The fellowship, I hope to be different. I wish not for us to separate or segregate, I wish for each of us to come together by the grace of Jesus Christ to love, serve and worship together.
I myself have wasted time on the pleasing of men. The church of Catholicism has a great many rules. The catechism is the name of these rules and as you said it once before, “Oh how I have wasted my time in the pleasing of these rules,” but I see now why the Lord may have put me through this. Just as the Lord Jesus Christ revealed to you through revolution so was He revealed to me by law and tradition. As you say Paul “So then the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. But now that Faith has come we are no longer under a guardian, for in Jesus Christ you are all sons of God, through faith.” The Father knew who would read your words. He knew that a letter intended for the church of Galatia would fall into the hands of me, a child living in Peru. These two short sentences mean so much more to me than you could ever realize. It was by law that I was raised. It was law who taught me who God the Father was and it was through the law that I came to know Him. At that time I thought I understood a great deal for as you experienced similarly “I was advancing in” Catholicism “beyond many of my own age among my people, so extremely zealous was I for the traditions of my fathers.” What I did not understand nor was able to comprehend was the freedom that is achieved through Christ Jesus. I indeed know that, “Righteousness were through the law”. Indeed I see now that it was by the grace of God that I should live free. And that I had been living in a way that, “Christ died for no purpose.”
I thank you for the letter you addressed to Galatia, whether you knew it then or if you have watched it blossom, your letter has changed the world and indeed myself.
May God’s peace rest with your spirit. Please pray for me and the fellowship to the Lord our God. Amen
