Today is the day my squad and I leave for Nicaragua to begin the 11 month, 11 country trip for 2020. With this bittersweet moment comes a lot of different emotions! Overall, I am going to miss all my family and friends but I am super excited to spend this next year with my new little family I have with me!
The word God has given me today is rather ironic, “Don’t you look back!” While literally it is referring to the family, friends, job, and materialistic things I am leaving behind, I know that He is more accurately referring to the lifestyle and comforts of my old life. The Bible speaks of a renewal of the spirit when we come into relationship with Christ.
Romans 12:1-2 specifies this fact, “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
I am fully willing and overjoyed to experience this continued transformation over the next year. And, can’t wait to bring you all along for the ride!
