Hey everyone!

These first few days I’ve been thinking a lot about which type of ministry I would want to do here, we’re blessed to have so many different options. We could work at the children’s home or even at the clinic. I’ve really enjoyed the kids, but I’ve had this feeling that I should minister to some of the staff here at KIM. I began by looking around where we live and God lead me to this Honda XR200 in the backyard behind a tree. The assistant mechanic told me that it hasn’t run in a few years because the engine seized up. He goes on to say that Jeff (the boss) wants it running so people can use it. Everything else sorta works on the bike except the wiring, which is completely shot. I talked to Jeff and he told me if I want to fix the motorcycle, he would be glad to fund it. I went a step further and told Jeff that I was gonna take the bike completely apart, take all the rust off, paint it, buy the needed parts, and put it all back together. While at the same time creating relationships with the mechanics/handymen, I can minister to them and encourage them to continue to grow in there faith with God. I told him I’ve been reading this great book about what it looks like to be a real man of God. I explained how I was going to copy chapters of the book to give to the mechanics so that while we work on the bike we can talk about the book. For a few seconds he stared at me as if I was crazy. Then this devious smirk broke out all across his face and he said, “Sounds great.”

Immediately after my talk with Jeff I went down to where the bike was, put it in neutral, and pushed it to the front of the garage. The workers asked what I was gonna do with the motorcycle. I told them Jeff wants the bike fixed and that they’re going to help me fix it. I told them I can disassemble the whole bike but I’ll need one of them to help me to pull the engine out. They smiled. Then, Benji, the main mechanic, grabbed his tool-bag and walked over to me. He stood to the left of me, and his assistant on my right. We looked at the bike, unsure of what was gonna happen during this project. Then Benji dropped his tool-bag and then looked at me. He motioned his hand forward to me and said, “Welcome to the team.”

So I stripped the bike. I removed: the seat, gas tank, wiring, carburetor, throttle, chain, air filter, front & rear plastics, passenger pegs, rider pegs, skid plate, lights/turn indicators, muffler, exhaust pipe, speedometer, and ect.

I dropped the engine this morning with Benji and another motorcycle-loving missionary who is from Australia, named Lucas(he’s been such a cool guy to get to know!). This afternoon Benji and I will hopefully head to the parts store to get the needed parts. I will be removing all the rust off of the frame before then. I’ll be introducing the first chapter of “Wild at Heart” by John Eldredge this afternoon.

Blessed that God brought me to this place where I can do things that stir my passions and speak to such amazing men that probably aren’t poured into often. I ask for you to keep me in your prayers and that my desires and words would be from God and not the flesh.

Love you guys!
