Hello WORLD!
In August, I will be going to 11 countries in 11 months in the 10/40 window as part of World Race’s expedition route. How EXCITING!
I am so looking forward to being the hands and feet of Jesus and see the world through His eyes. I feel so blessed to have this opportunity.
Some background:
I first heard about World Race from a good friend this past summer. We were driving down to San Diego for a wedding and were talking about ways I could travel the world for a year while making an impact. I had been looking for some way to do this and even contemplated doing it on my own. To my surprise, she told me one of her friends had gone on the World Race a couple times and loved it and now works there. The very next day, I checked out theworldrace.org and got so excited. I exchanged emails with my friend’s friend and connected a few days later. Wow! What a cool idea!
I let this sit and marinate in my mind for about half a year and in that time, went on a mission trip to Germany to serve the Syrian (and other) refugees. What an eye-opening experience! The long train rides and flights and early wake-ups and long days were complemented by 24/7 community, worship and devotions in the morning. I had never felt so alive and so invigorated as when I was there.
Where will I be?
Fast forward to present day: Periodically I’d check theworldrace.org and one day about a week before Thanksgiving I saw this route. What a beautiful, perfect route!
Camino de Santiago in Spain is this amazing pilgrimage I heard about through my old roommate. Morocco was a vibrant city I heard about through an old high school friend who did a study abroad trip there. Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Cyprus & Turkey was and is the land of Bible times and I’ve had a heart for Jerusalem for the last 3 and a half years. China is the homeland of my ethnic people.
Route Countries:
- Spain
- Morocco
- Egypt
- Israel
- Jordan
- Cyprus
- Turkey
- Kazakhstan
- Kyrgyzstan
- Mongolia
- China
Wow! My heart leaped and I immediately got off my phone and turned on my laptop…I was going to apply! The next few weeks were spent soul searching, praying, and discussing with family and friends…and bam! Acceptance, and deposit were paid about a week and a half ago. This girl is going around the world as a missionary!
I feel so much joy and peace in my heart on this trip. While it is terrifying to go across the world, with a group of people I haven’t met and my entire life on my back…I feel like I was born to do this. Where else do missions and travel combine in one seamless year? I have a heart for Jesus and a thirst for travel and this blends perfectly into the World Race Expedition Trip.
And so it begins…
