Training Camp: Part 1

When planning on what/how I was going to blog about training camp, I had to start with processing everything that happened. In the end, in order to keep the golden rule of blogging (500 words or less), it looks like I will have at least 3 blogs about training camp. There was just so much that happened, so many great moments, that it would be impossible to convey everything that happened in one blog. So for starters, here are some HIGHLIGHTS:

1. Not using Facebook or Twitter once for a whole week. Never knew I had it in me haha.
2. Realizing just how long I can go without showering.
3. "Learning" how to eat with chopsticks (thanks Joe Johnson).
4. Realizing a monsoon was happening outside right after we put up our tents on night 1 ("Lord, please let me come back to a dry tent. Thanks.")
5. Running/hiking up the same moutain the paratroopers of Band of Brothers climbed. CURRAHEE!
6. Hearing a brother say "somebody dropped me," then watching the rest of his brothers "lift" him.
7. During worship, seeing people sing, dance, praise, or just sit and pray, some even waving flags, and all of it being totally ok.
8. Standing under a 186 ft water fall (I would later learn that we were technically not supposed to do this).
9. Late night theology chats with team members!
10. Getting a brand new family in less than a week.
11. Hearing a squadmate sing a worship song in her original language. Beautiful!
12. Sharing a squadmate's first Chic-fil-A experience. Another life changed!
13. Alignment.
14. Learning how to be open and vulnerable, and what it really means to forgive.
15. RIce…..for breakfast.
16. NIGHT THREE SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS (I admit I had a moment of annoyance this night, but overall this was an epic event).
17. Dressing up in a ridiculously yellow outfit and acting crazy.
18. Singing hymns (acapella) with 300+ other racers during worship.
19. Being totally wrong in my first impressions about people.
20. Realizing I could probably survive carrying everything I own in a backpack.
21. Refelcting on the week of Training Camp: I really believe He increased, and I decreased (John 3:30)

Keep on the look out over the next week or so for two (or three?) more blogs about training camp! Thanks and God bless to all who have supported me prayerfully and financially. My squad is full of incredible men and women of God, and I can't wait to get started in serving with them around the world. Blessed beyond belief!
