Have you ever wondered, “Why am I so different?”
To all the people who feel like they don’t fit in or are just plain different, let me tell you something; first off, you have so much beauty. I am not just saying this, but you truly do whether you believe it or not. Beauty isn’t the confinements of what our society claims it to be. It isn’t about being skinny, having the perfect jokes, and being valedictorian. Beauty comes from what makes you different. You might feel so unique in comparison to society and loved ones, but that is what truly makes you so beautiful.
When you feel different you have two choices:
- To mask your true self to fit into society or
- To let God use the differences that He has given you to show the world another type of beauty
For so much of my life I have been trying to mold into the perfect daughter, student, and friend, but what I have realized is that I have been masking the person who God created perfectly due to fear for being different. I am far from perfect, but I do believe that God has made every single unique part of each of us out of His true love.
Secondly, beauty comes with the hardest trials. You might be thinking, you are crazy; crying and hurt does not sound pretty at all, but lets redefine beauty. If you truly believe in Jesus Christ with all your heart, beauty is not whether you have it or not, but it is whether or not you decide to let His beauty shine through you. Beauty is trusting that God uses the hardest times in our life to bring Him glory. Beauty is believing that all of your insecurities about who you are and what has happened in your life is just another way that God created us in His image. Beauty occurs when we understand God’s grace through the hardest times in our life and share that vulnerability with others so that they can see the beauty of joy in our hearts.
So I urge you, stop trying to fit into a world that is looking for something different. God has truly given you gifts to set you apart for a unique purpose.
In eight months I am about to embark on the World Race because I have stopped trying to bury the gifts and passions that God has put on my heart: to share a light with a broken world.
I would be truly thankful for any kinds of means of support:
- Prayers for family and friends that are transitioning into the role of me going on the World Race
- Prayers for me and my World Race team to let God’s light shine in us by serving areas of darkness in the world
- Monthly or one-time donation to go on the World Race- Support Goal: $16,961
