The beautiful people of Swazi, they all have a story to share.

  • Theresa has such a beautiful heart for the Lord, she was originally hired by an organization to teach at a preschool in her town. 5 years after planting the preschool and such the organization left, but Theresa didn’t. She is now solely a volunteer and gets paid nothing to teach over 30 kids. Her income is these small embroideries that she sells for around $4USD. It’s so cool to see how she so selflessly serves the Lord and his he has pleased that desire within her.

  • PT is a lil 6 year old that lives on the farm we worked at. The first week we went to the far I didn’t talk to her much, but the second week we hung out a lot! Every night we went to the top of the water tower and just spent time together. Two nights in a row she worked out with me and would count as I did push-up and lunges and stuff. We have had dance parties on top of the water tower, and just sat in each other’s presence. I love how Jesus had given Piti such joy even when it seems that she doesn’t have many friends.

  • Nomthebo was one of the first Swazi people that I met and connected with. A few of my squadmates had already made connections with her, so I was introduced through them. She is mother of one lil boy and sells sweets at the schools as well as makeup. She always says she is a “real business woman”. She loves the Lord deeply and loved to pray with us.

  • Tuba is a sweet 6 year old whom I have the pleasure of holding in church. She has some type of special needs, I couldn’t tell you what though. The first day I meet her we were shaking hands with everyone in the church (like a short greeting time at the beginning of the service) and I went up to her and shook her hand. She turned her face from me. But when I put my hands out, asking if she wanted to be picked up she put her arms closer to mine. I scooped her up and held her most of the service besides when her brother would randomly ask if he could take her and then she was come back 3 minutes later. I got to hold her the following Sunday and we danced during worship and had so much fun!

  • Tobelie: My team meet her he second week of being in Swazi at a restaurant called Nisela (we get WiFi there). She was our waitress and we just began talking with her. Every week since then we always ask if she is around and we talk with her. She is so sweet and we always give her hugs when we see her and she always has a big smile on her face. I’m so thankful that God appointed our meeting.
