disclaimer: this is not all the reason I love India, just a few! Also I’ve really struggled writing about India in blogs because I feel that nothing I can ever say will accurately explain to you how much I LOVE it! I’ve truly fallen in love but wjth this place and the people. So just know that I love this place more than I can put into words, but here are just a few reasons that I do love Sielmat!

  1. Christian-centered community: these people live with that Agape type of love! They sacrifice everything for each! (ex. Sacrifice sleep when someone in the community passed away, even if they didn’t know them. They stay up all night singing hymns to the Lord, comforting the family that lost a loved ones)
  2. They remind me my worth is in God alone: especially when they call me a heavy, big, American. Haha, seriously though.
  3. friends that make me feel at home: Abraham, Vala, James, Dara, Josai, Hazel, Edmond, young Hazel, Esther
  4. Food isn’t too spicy: nothing like South India, which I was expecting
  5. Milk tea and bora: enough said.
  6. Cheap and cute clothes: #ilovethrifting
  7. Goshen Bakery: Chocolate Balls aka the best desert on the planet, next to my Gram’s chocolate cake of course!
  8. Prayer Mountain: cabins placed on the top of the Lord creation where people can be fought for by prayer and petition!
  9. A hospital that heals: incase i eat nuts (praise Jesus we haven’t run into any problems while being here on the race)
  10. Late night hangouts: early here is like 9:30
  11. Hospitality: just showing up at peoples houses unannounced and always being welcomed in
  12. Location of the village: it is a closed off village, but walk 5/10 minutes and your basically in a city!

The Lord is so present here, and the people are so sweet and hospitable that it feels like home. I feel like I belong, and though I am not of this world and my real home is in Heaven, just has given me just a little piece of that in Sielmat, India!
