As many of you may know, for the past two years I have lived quite the nomadic lifestyle. Currently, I am employed by Compassion International, and through my assignments there I have been given the opportunity to traverse the United States while making a difference in the lives of children all over the world. While this has been immensely rewarding, I felt the Lord calling me to share the hope that I have in Him on a greater and more personal level. He created us for relationships and I desire to invest more in His people through missions. About a year ago I met with my pastor and expressed my desire. While I knew, I felt called to do this, I was unsure how to approach it. There were so many unknowns, such as which organization best met my needs and aligned with my beliefs and goals. After meeting with my pastor, I discovered the World Race and Adventures in Missions. The World Race is an organization that was founded in 1989 and is responsible for sending over 100,000 missionaries all over the globe. The World Race is an 11-month mission trip to 11 different countries designed to get young people involved in missions as well as give them experiences in various types of mission work with all different kinds of people groups. It seemed like an amazing opportunity. But I wanted to make sure this was where the Lord was leading me before I jumped in head first. Besides that, it would mean leaving my family and home for almost a full year! A scary thought for anyone with family as amazing as mine. So instead I prayed. I had conversations with other missionaries who had gone and come back. I prayed some more. But it was not until this spring (2017) that my roommate and I, along with some encouragement from my pastor, decided to apply for the race. I thought if the Lord didn’t want me to go then I would not be accepted. But I WAS accepted! It still doesn’t feel real to say that I will be leaving in January 2018 to travel to 11 different countries and that I will have the opportunity to further God’s kingdom in a way that I have never experienced! My team and I will be traveling to Cote D’Ivoire, Ghana, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, India, Nepal, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua. In each country, we will be preaching the gospel, praying for the sick, and spending time with people in the lowest strata of their social system. And I cannot wait. I am so excited to share the grace and love of Jesus with people who need it most.
But to get there I need your help! My pastor has always talked about how there are goers and there are senders. God has created me to be a goer. But I need senders! I cannot do this without support, both prayerful and financial. Prayer will be a huge thing! I believe we are the intercessors for our friends and family, believer and non-believer alike. In Paul’s letters to various churches in the New Testament, he often asked them to pray for his mission. Prayer is vital to this trip and to the fulfillment of the calling God has placed on me. If you would like to partner with me prayerfully, please send me an email ([email protected]) and I will send you prayer update letters throughout my time on the World Race. I will also need financial partners. My goal for this trip is $18,000 which is overwhelming. But I know that Lord will provide. The saying “God doesn’t call the equipped. He equips the called” keeps running through my head and I know that He is faithful. If he is calling you to help me along my journey, He will provide. This cost includes my training, all my travel while abroad as well as lodging, food, visas and other necessities while on the road. Below are a few of the ways that you can give.
